Happy Friday Eve!
Yep that's right, I'm tucked up in bed writing a blog post instead of out getting drunk. Parallel universe? I don't know what's happened to me...actually I do, Christmas (& Nish) shopping has left me one broke girl.
I stumbled upon Quest bars a few months ago on various fitness blogs or instagrams. They caught my eye as the words healthy and brownie are only ever used together in my dreams! So of course I browsed the website it was helloooo 3 boxes of Quest bars, bye bye £70!
I actually ordered off the official Quest site which charged a ridiculous delivery fee as the brand is American, but I've been told you can get them off many UK sites, including Amazon and predatornutrition.com
Anyways, I have one thing to say and it's all you need to know:
Quest is the best!
If you're a chocoholic like me...or have a sweet tooth, but are also trying to be healthy, these are the perfect little treats. Besides the amazing range of flavours (chocolate brownie, chocolate chip cookie dough, cinnamon roll, chocolate peanut butter, strawberry cheesecake, coconut cashew, the list goes on...), these badboys are gluten free, free from aritifical sweeteners, low in saturated fat and sugar, very low carb AND high protein. Too good to be true?
Oh, and they taste delicious!!
The only downside is they are pricey little buggers. A box of twelve is a hefty £24.99 so that's around £2.00 per bar...and if you buy them individually they're even more expensive!
This morning I had a little flick through the recipe book they came with and decided to make my own version of their 'chocolate brownie' recipe. Instead of peanut butter cups (which I didn't order), I used banana.
Ingredients: Nice & Simple
1 Chocolate Brownie Quest Bar
1 Chocolate Chunk Cookie Dough Quest Bar
1/2 Ripe Banana
Chop each bar into 5 even slices and microwave on high for 10 seconds...
Spray 5 little muffin trays with non-stick spray...
Mash one chocolate brownie strip onto the bottom of each muffin tray...
Place a few slices of banana on top...
And then mash the cookie dough strips on top...
Bake for 10 minutes in the oven and voila!
So. Bloody. Tasty.
Honestly, if I blindfolded you and gave you one of these next to a normal, unhealthy but incredibly yummy double chocolate brownie, I bet you wouldn't taste the difference. They're that good. And only 80 cals per one!
'Healthy' brownies + green tea + fire= one happy Nish.
The perfect post-workout treat!
If I'm uncontactable in the next 48 hours, it's because I'm in a quest coma.
xoxo
Ooh these look interesting. I'd love one of these after an intense workout!
